Marbles, The Brain Store

Despite my public disdain for malls, we did have an enjoyable visit to a store I had never seen.  Now, normally I am not a fan of window shopping, but the name of the store got my attention: Marbles, The Brain Store.

The reason this interested me is that I am currently reading up on neuroplasticity in the book The Brain That Changes Itself.  Surprisingly, neuroplasticity is still a controversial science.  So I was pleasantly surprised to learn from Matthew, the very friendly and knowledgeable store manager, that the store is largely centered around the research discussed in this book.

Once I was able to convince the kids to return to the car with HotNerd, I managed to purchase three games that the Easter Bunny will be bringing Sunday.

I plan to write several posts on neuroplasticity, the book, and such games later.

For now, I leave you with a photo of the incredible creation Matthew, the manager, built (based on a photo he'd seen on the internet) from Kapla Blocks.

In case you are not familiar with Kapla Blocks, these are all resting on one another without the benefit of any adhesives, and then are balancing on the single vertical block at the stem.
