My favorite part of going on a field trip with Eggplant is that he points out to me all the details he is sure I have missed. He is usually right. I have missed them. Eggplant, on the other hand, takes in every detail imaginable. He then returns home and processes through art all that he saw on the field trip. This is delightful.
Yesterday we went to an exhibit at the Chicago Cultural Center called "The Exquisite City". Artists had created their own versions of aspects of Chicago out of simple items -- cardboard, paint, junk, etc. We took the train. Eggplant spent the entirety of the train rides staring at the tracks from the front of the train. My guess was that he would come home and draw the tracks. He did some of that, but most of his drawings have been of the actual exhibit.
